Jim Ross Confirms AEW Star Has Creative Control
An AEW star remains in control.
Chris Jericho has been an integral part of AEW since the company was launched in 2019.
After becoming a household name while with WWE, Jericho was positioned as the first-ever AEW World Champion, helping the company secure its media rights deal in the process.
Although now very much in the veteran stage of his career, Jericho is the Ring of Honor World Champion and remains in a prominent position on AEW television. A position he seemingly has a great deal of influence over.
Speaking on his Grilling JR podcast, Ross revealed that Chris Jericho books his own programs “more often than not,” before suggesting he’d make a great booker.
“He became one of the biggest stars in wrestling history, and he’s still going. Jericho’s still going.
When you see him on AEW, you see good work. You see a smart program. He gets to book his own stuff, more often than not, and I’m sure glad we got him. I’ve said many times, arguably, over the last two or three years, he’s been kind of the MVP of AEW because he’s stayed in place.
He stayed there, and he built his brand, and now his brand is very strong. It’s a main event brand. When you see Jericho, you just don’t look away because you know something’s gonna happen, and it’s going to come out of his mind.
He’d make a great booker, no doubt about it in my mind,”
AEW’s Jim Ross Shares Health Update
During the same episode, Jim Ross explained that his health has improved “immensely” in recent months. The legendary commentator has faced several health struggles in recent years including skin cancer.
However, Ross noted that his radiation wound from his skin cancer treatment is healing and he’s feeling good.
The veteran added that his next assignment with AEW will likely be Worlds End in Orlando Florida.
