Jim Cornette Blasts Former WWE Star’s Time In AEW

Jim Cornette has commented on one former WWE star’s time in AEW, branding them a “disappointment since the start.”

Malakai Black exploded into AEW following his release from WWE and made a name for himself instantly as he laid out Arn Anderson and Cody Rhodes with his Black Mass spin kick. Black then entered into a feud with Rhodes that saw him pick up two big wins over The American Nightmare.

From there Malakai Black began teaming with Brody King and latterly Buddy Matthews as The House of Black looked to make a name for itself in AEW. Even adding Julia Hart to their ranks after she turned her back on The Varsity Blonds.

Black’s future in AEW has been the focus of much discussion in recent months with the Dutch star himself issuing a statement to deny that he had been given his release from AEW after allegedly requesting it.

Speaking on his Experience podcast, Jim Cornette has given his take on Malakai Black’s time in AEW so far and suggests that he might end up looking to return to where he “got over” – WWE:

“This guy has been a disappointment since the start. Remember he looked good, okay guy, looks like a badass. Had some buzz about him came in, did the thing with Cody, and then all of a sudden supernatural city came in, and every match of his, he would have a good match that goes in the toilet because he was playing some kind of spooky mind games with people. Then he gets a group around him and they cater to him until he realizes he ain’t getting over, and then he wants to go back to where he kinda got over a little better.”
