Jey Uso was surprised to win the Men’s Royal Rumble and he has revealed how WWE management told him that he was winning it.

When there were two men left in the Men’s WWE Royal Rumble match in Indianapolis, most fans likely thought John Cena would win the Rumble instead of Jey Uso.

Since it was Cena’s last Royal Rumble and he was the favorite to win, Jey likely had no shot for most people watching. However, that’s why in today’s WWE it’s hard to predict things like that because Jey found a way to win the Rumble match by last eliminating Cena.

While speaking to Alex McCarthy of Daily Mail Online, Jey revealed that he found out on the day of the Rumble match itself. It turns out that WWE management brought the final four guys into a room and told them at the same time.

“I didn’t find out till the day of. They just sit down whoever is the last four.

We’ll have this group meeting, then, ‘Right, last four, stay.’ They call out the last four, I’m in the four, I’m like, ‘Oh damn.’ Then they’ll tell me right there, ‘You know, we’re going to go with Jey.’ I’m just looking around like, ‘Yeah.’

‘I’m freaking out the whole day, but it’s a good thing, it’s great, it’s good pressure to get put on you that day. And also moving forward, I’m just excited, because that’s a great title accolade to have under your belt, as a wrestler, and for me.”

Jey Uso Won’t Let Anybody Down

By winning the Royal Rumble, Jey Uso got to pick his WrestleMania 41 opponent – the World Heavyweight Champion Gunther and Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes.

Even though Jey has lost to Gunther on multiple occasions, Jey picked the powerful Austrian as his WrestleMania 41 opponent.

As he continued in his talk with the Daily Mail, Jey Uso spoke about proving doubters wrong and how he isn’t going to let anybody down any time soon.

‘I have hit so many new things that I never thought I’d even scratch the surface on, but I’m the 2025 Royal Rumble winner now. I bet last year people would have never picked me. They didn’t pick me this year, but I just love this ride I’m on, and every week it changes.

‘I show up to work just ready to go. Whatever I’ve got to do, I’m going do it, and I feel like they see the hard work. I feel like Hunter (Triple H) knows. I bled for this, and he’s seen it because he went through it too, and he gave me this opportunity, and I’m just not going to let anybody down.’

In the same interview, Jey Uso expressed an interest in having a promo battle with The Rock, who is now aligned with John Cena against most people in WWE.
