Jey Uso Vows To Silence Doubters At WrestleMania 41

Jey Uso entrance WWE Raw

Jey Uso knows the pressure is on.

With his popularity at an all-time high, Jey Uso shocked the world to win the 2025 Royal Rumble. With victory, the star booked himself a shot at World Championship gold at WrestleMania, and he quickly set up a rematch with World Heavyweight Champion Gunther.

The pair have a rivalry stretching back to early 2024, when Uso challenged Gunther for the Intercontinental Championship. They then battled in the semi-finals of the King of the Ring tournament before Gunther successfully defended the World Title against Uso at Saturday Night’s Main Event on January 25.

Although Uso is one of the most popular stars in wrestling today, he still has plenty of vocal critics, with a section of WWE fans believing he’s undeserving of such a high-profile spot.

Speaking in a new interview with Shakiel Mahjouri for CBS Sports, he admitted he’s aware of the doubters, but he remains determined to prove them wrong.

“This is do or die for me. I feel like I am doubted a lot. A lot of people are doubting me right now, Uce. I’m not supposed to be in this position. I know that. They know that. But I’m going to shut them all up.”

While trying to pin down the root of his popularity, the former tag team star said fans have been part of his journey from day one and have watched him grow up in the ring.

“I’m still trying to prove myself. It’s OK. This is my story. I think a lot of people rock with me, Uce, because they watched me grow in front of them. They know where I came from. They raised me up. That’s all I’m going to do. Every Monday, I show up to work and I make sure to leave it all out there. I’m trying to enjoy this ride.”

Gunther Unimpressed By Jey Uso Challenge

Despite the excitement from the challenger, Gunther has admitted he’s “not interested” in facing Jey Uso at WrestleMania.

While looking ahead to the event, Gunther said he would have preferred to have faced an established megastar rather than such a familiar rival. However, he did concede that it was impossible to deny Uso’s popularity, comparing it to the rise of Daniel Bryan ahead of WrestleMania 30.

Gunther won the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam with a victory over Damian Priest. But he’ll be hoping for a more successful WrestleMania in 2025 than in 2024, after he lost the Intercontinental Title to Sami Zayn 12 months ago.
