Jey Uso Shocks John Cena With WWE Royal Rumble Win

Jey Uso

It might be John Cena’s final year as a WWE Superstar but there was no room for sentiment as Jey Uso shocked the world at the Royal Rumble.

The 2025 Royal Rumble kicked off with the women’s Rumble match as Charlotte Flair returned to WWE for the first time in over a year to make history. Flair entered the match at number 27 and picked up the win making her the first woman to win two Rumble matches.

It was a good night for DIY as they retained the WWE Tag Team Title over The Motor City Machine Guns but both teams were taken out by the Street Profits. Cody Rhodes retained the WWE Title with a sickening win over Kevin Owens in a ladder match before all eyes turned to the star-studded men’s Rumble match.

Rey Mysterio and Penta kicked off the bout as the number 1 and 2 entrants respectively. TNA World Champion Joe Hendry made a surprise appearance in the Rumble but didn’t last long as he was one of several stars eliminated by Roman Reigns.

John Cena entered the match at number 23, quickly eliminating Braun Strowman and Finn Balor. As Cena stared down Roman Reigns, it was already time for number 24 and CM Punk made his way to the ring. With the match reaching its conclusion, CM Punk shockingly eliminated both Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns before Punk was thrown out by Logan Paul. Rollins snapped as he nailed Reigns with a stomp on the floor and on the stairs as he also took out Punk as well.

Jey Uso Stuns The World

In the ring, that left the eclectic trio of John Cena, Logan Paul, and Jey Uso to battle it out for the main event title shot at WrestleMania 41. Uso and Cena combined to help get Logan Paul out of the way to the relief of everyone. Cena looked to have the match won but the shock of the night and possibly of the year happened as Jey Uso eliminated Cena to win the match and book his place in the main event of WrestleMania 41.

Jey Uso now has his choice of champion to face at WrestleMania 41 where he will challenge for either the Undisputed WWE Championship held by Cody Rhodes or the World Heavyweight Title held by Gunther.
