Why Jey Uso Isn’t Sad Over WWE WrestleMania Main Event Snub

Jey Uso WWE

Jey Uso has revealed why he’s not sad about missing out on the WrestleMania main event despite winning the Royal Rumble.

In the past, the Royal Rumble winner earned a WrestleMania main event title shot, but that hasn’t been strictly true in more recent years.

Neither the 2025 Royal Rumble will headline WrestleMania, although they will get title shots at the show. Charlotte Flair will challenge Tiffany Stratton for the WWE Women’s Championship in a feud that has become increasingly personal as time has gone on.

Jey Uso Pitches To Open WrestleMania

Jey Uso will have to watch his cousin Roman Reigns in his 10th WrestleMania main event despite winning the Royal Rumble as he challenges Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship. Speaking on a WWE WrestleMania 41 vlog, Jey Uso made his case to open the show after missing out on a main event match:

Saturday is my day. I’m on the first night, so I really hope – I’m being detailed here – but I really hope I’m on first. Obviously, I wanted the main event. We know that’s not gonna happen, which is ok with me. I feel like if you’re on a WrestleMania card period, that’s something big, man. It took me almost ten years to get on the main card, so I’m humble with this, but I just wanna go first, night one, if I can. At least set the tone, for sure.

On the men’s side of things, WrestleMania has seen a world title defended five times in the opening match of the show. The first time it happened was in 2011 when Edge defended the World Heavyweight Title against Alberto Del Rio in The Rated-R Superstar’s final match in nine years as he was forced into retirement.

Night two of WrestleMania 40 saw two World Heavyweight Title matches take place as Drew McIntyre captured the World Heavyweight Title from Seth Rollins before Damian Priest cashed in his Money In The Bank contract on McIntyre to leave Philadelphia with the gold.
