Jey Uso Wins First Singles Title Of WWE Career
It might have taken fourteen years but Jey Uso has finally won singles gold in WWE on Monday Night Raw.
Jey Uso overcame a triple threat match and a fatal four-way bout to earn his right to challenge the hugely impressive Bron Breakker for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. Breakker won the gold at SummerSlam when he defeated Uso’s old partner and rival Sami Zayn.
Despite all of his tag team success with Jimmy Uso, Jey Uso has arguably been on the run of his career since separating himself from The Bloodline’s drama and striking out on his own on Raw. Uso won more tag team gold with Cody Rhodes during this time and has currently found a kindred spirit in Rhea Ripley who was turned on by her own group, The Judgment Day.
On Raw in Ontario, CA, Jey Uso had to stand on his own two feet, however, as he had his chance to win the first singles title of his WWE career.
Jey Uso Beats Bron Breakker
A 20-minute battle followed, punctuated by “This is Awesome” chants from the crowd as the two impressive stars clashed. Ultimately, Jey Uso managed to avoid a spear on the outside of the ring to come back and hit a spear of his own sending Breakker through the ringside barricade.
Another spear in the ring followed by the Uso Splash was enough to cut short the reign of Bron Breakker and crown Jey Uso as WWE’s 91st different star to hold the Intercontinental Championship.
