Jeff Jarrett Making WWE Return In Executive Position
WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett is reportedly set to return to WWE shortly in a high-level executive role.
Having already worked for WWE in several backstage roles, ‘Double J’ Jeff Jarrett will reportedly return to the company as early as next week.
PWInsider broke the news that the multi-time Intercontinental Champion will be working in a “high-level executive position”, they also heard from one source that Jarrett will be “taking over live events”, although an official job title has not been confirmed.
During his in-ring career in WWE, Jeff Jarrett was a European Champion, Tag Team Champion, and reigned with the Intercontinental Championship six times. He had his last match with the company in October 1999, losing the Intercontinental Championship to Chyna.
Jarrett was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2018 and re-joined the company in January 2019 as a producer. From there, the King of the Mountain was promoted to a full-time member of WWE’s creative team before moving to live events as an executive. However, when the COVID-19 pandemic led to the company pausing live events, Jarrett left his role in January 2021.
Outside of WWE, Jarrett found success both as a wrestler and in senior backstage positions. He was the founder of TNA and, on top of his on-screen role, was the Executive Vice President of Development and Original Programming towards the end of his time there. Following his departure from the company, he founded another promotion, the ill-fated Global Force Wrestling, in 2014.
More recently Jeff Jarrett has made several appearances for Game Changer Wrestling, Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide, and the National Wrestling Alliance. In the NWA, he notably cost Nick Aldis an NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship match. In GCW, Jarrett also wrestled for the first time in three years when he defeated EFFY at The WRLD on GCW.
