WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett recounted the most severe injury of his career, sustained during a Steel Cage Match against fellow Hall of Famer Jimmy Snuka.

Speaking on his podcast, My World, Jeff Jarrett revisited the January 10th episode of WCW Monday Nitro, where the high-stakes bout took an unexpected toll on his body. The match reached its climax when Snuka performed his signature splash from the top of the steel cage. While the move was executed as planned, the impact left Jarrett with significant injuries, including a severe case of whiplash and a concussion.

“I knew, ‘Okay, Jimmy’s jumping off, I need to brace myself and prepare myself, but I am going to be laying right for him if I need to scoot over. And he’s like, ‘No brother, I’ll get you, I’ll make sure you’re close enough in.’”

Jarrett explained that he had complete trust in Snuka’s ability to execute the move safely.

“When I looked up, I had a comfort level that he’s jumping up, all that.”

However, despite Snuka landing the splash perfectly, the sheer force of the 260-pound wrestler coming down on him caused Jarrett’s head to whip backwards, slamming into the mat.

“It doesn’t matter how strong I was, the whiplash, and my head smacking the back of the mat.”

Following the match, Jarrett sought medical attention from a WCW doctor and was diagnosed with severe whiplash and a concussion.

“It took me a while of going to Dr. Tim to get the diagnosis… just a horrible case of whiplash on top of a concussion.”
