Jeff Jarrett Backs Divisive WWE Plan

Jeff Jarrett Reflects On The Night WWE Killed The WCW Brand

Jeff Jarrett supports WWE’s latest move.

On October 29th, WWE announced the creation of its new WWE ID program. The initiative will build on the company’s existing NIL program which was launched back in 2021 to identify the next generation of Superstars.

The initiative will aim to create a pathway from the independent scene to the company while partnering with several wrestling schools such as Booker T’s Reality of Wrestling, and Cody Rhodes’ Nightmare Factory.

However, not everyone is excited about the scheme with a report claiming a “few” independent promoters were worried this could spark a repeat of what happened in the UK with the launch of NXT UK. On that occasion, WWE signed up several promising British stars and they were pulled from other dates.

Despite the skepticism from some, AEW star Jeff Jarrett believes the new initiative will only benefit the industry as a whole. Speaking on his My World podcast, Jarrett also talked up the importance of a strong independent scene.

“But at the end of the day, I think it’s healthy for the industry… It’s [refering to the independent scene] really the fertile soil that a talent gets to create their own persona,”

Jarrett suggested that other wrestling schools not affiliated with WWE will now have to up their game to compete, which again he sees as a positive. The veteran quipped “Folks, this is a business, and treat it as such.”

Meanwhile, it’s been announced that the first WWE ID talent will be revealed at Booker T’s Reality of Wrestling’s Super Sunday event on November 10th at the Walker Texas Lawyer Arena in Texas City, Texas.

There’s been a great deal of speculation that the talent in question could be Zilla Fatu — the son of the late Umaga. In recent weeks Fatu has claimed he’s “destined” to eventually sign with the sports entertainment giant.
