Why Jeff Jarrett Believes AEW WrestleDream Was Unique

Jeff Jarrett

Jeff Jarrett has revealed his respect for Bryan Danielson.

AEW WrestleDream saw not only the end of a World Title reign but the end of an era. When all was said and done and the referee called for the bell, Jon Moxley took possession of AEW’s top prize, while ending the full-time career of Bryan Danielson.

At the end of the match, the new Blackpool Combat Club swarmed the ring and delivered the final twist with Wheeler Yuta turning his back on Danielson to join the group. To hammer home where his loyalty lies, Yuta then suffocated his former mentor with a plastic bag.

There was also the small matter of the action playing out in front of Danielson’s home crowd.

Jeff Jarrett Reflects On Famous Night

Speaking on the latest episode of his My World podcast, Jarrett looked back on WrestleDream and more specifically the emotionally charged ending to the show. The veteran said he can’t remember a pay-per-view ever going off the air in those circumstances, adding that it’ll be remembered for years to come.

“I’ve never felt, because you could feel a crowd, even if they’re not yelling, it was really, really emotional. For him to be heading in there as the champion, and to go out that way, the people in the arena, I don’t think they expected him to lose under any circumstance, being that [the show] was in his backyard, and just how that last scene felt. You could feel the emotion in the arena.

I can’t ever remember a pay-per-view going off the air under those circumstances. It was an emotional night. WrestleDream I think will go down in history as really a unique, different, obviously bell-to-bell incredible wrestling, but the last half hour was about as emotionally charged as you could get for me because of my attachment with Bryan.

More than an emotional attachment, the respect I have for him, his career, how he’s done it, the way he’s done it, you just don’t see that in 2024. It was just really, really emotional, but man, Mox and company [are] about as established…what a statement they made. There’s no doubt about that,”

Meanwhile, it’s been reported that Bryan Danielson might never wrestle again. The report noted that despite Danielson originally wanting to wrestle for many years to come, there are no firm plans for him to do so. Instead, he’s focused on spending time with his family and dealing with his well-documented neck issues.
