Jeff Hardy Makes Brutally Honest Admission About AEW Run

Jeff Hardy

Jeff Hardy has admitted he’s not proud of how things played out in AEW.

Following what was described as unusual behaviour in December 2021, Jeff Hardy was released by WWE. With his brother Matt already in AEW, the move seemed an obvious choice, and four months later Jeff arrived on Dynamite.

However, just three months later Hardy was suspended after being arrested for driving under the influence. The arrest scuppered plans for a World Tag Team Title run, and although he eventually returned to action in April 2023, he never recaptured his earlier momentum.

A year later, Matt Hardy allowed his AEW contract to expire, and in June 2024, Jeff left the company after his own contract ended. After becoming a free agent, Jeff followed his brother to TNA.

Matt Hardy later claimed that Jeff didn’t feel wanted in AEW, and after not being offered a new deal, he quickly decided to return to TNA.

Jeff Hardy Holds “Guilt And Shame” Over AEW Run

During an appearance on Busted Open Radio, Hardy was asked about his goals in TNA but began by revealing his guilt at how things played out in AEW.

“Definitely to win the TNA Tag Team Titles. I still have so much guilt and shame from AEW giving me an opportunity, and even Matt, to me breaking trust with my personal issues and real life. I want to make that up to Matt.

I will say right here that I will not break TNA’s trust. That is in my past. It feels good to have somewhat of a clean slate with that stuff and start fresh instead of having that guilt and shame about what I did in a certain world of pro wrestling,”

Despite the pair working with TNA and agreeing to do so for a “couple of months,” no contracts have been signed.
