JBL Recalls Funniest Wrestler’s Court Story; WWE Legend Accused Of NSFW Offence
JBL shared a funny anecdote involving Vi*gra, which led to Teddy Long being dragged to the Wrestler’s Court.
Wrestler’s Court was an unofficial committee run by wrestlers during the 1990s and 2000s. It was established to maintain locker room etiquette and resolve wrestler disputes.
Appearing on the Something to Wrestle podcast with Conrad Thompson, John ‘Bradshaw’ Layfield answered fan questions. A user wrote to ask him to share his favorite Wrestler’s Court story, especially about Mick Foley being brought up for leaving ‘Hardcore’ Holly at the airport and going to a carnival.
While the former WWE Champion failed to recollect that story, he did share one involving Theodore “Teddy” Long. JBL said:
The funniest one to me was always going to be Teddy Long selling the free Vi*gra. That was the best. Vi*gra had just come out and Teddy, because he is 184 years old, got Vi*gra from a doctor and I was like, ‘What does this do to you?’ Oh! it’s like a s*x super-drug. So, everybody wants it to see what it is.
This resulted in Bradshaw and his tag team partner, Ron Simmons, taking Teddy to the Wrestler’s Court for selling free Vi*gra. He also recalled the late Mae Young being his attorney, who kept calling it ‘Niagara’, and had no idea what it was. Long eventually lost the case and was penalized in the form of buying JBL and a few other wrestlers chicken and beer for two weeks.
While the Wrestler’s Court faced several criticisms, especially for enabling bullying, JBL’s story does highlight the sometimes nonchalant nature of the tribunal.
JBL And Simmons Inducted Teddy Long Into The WWE Hall Of Fame
JBL and Ron Simmons share a longstanding friendship with Teddy Long, having traveled together through the years.
They inducted Long into the 2017 WWE Hall of Fame, with Bradshaw calling it an “incredible honor.”
