JBL Praises 2025 AAA Rey De Reyes Event As “One Of The Best Shows I’ve Ever Seen”
WWE Hall of Famer John Bradshaw Layfield has given glowing praise to AAA’s 2025 Rey de Reyes event, describing it as “one of the best shows that I’ve ever seen.”
Appearing on the Something to Wrestle podcast, JBL discussed the March 22 show in detail, singling out the main event where he played a major role. The match featured Alberto El Patron, formerly known to WWE fans as Alberto Del Rio, defending the AAA Mega Championship against El Hijo del Vikingo.
JBL got physically involved, interfering in the match by delivering a low blow and his signature Clothesline from Hell to Latin Lover, helping El Patron retain the title.
Reflecting on the event, JBL said:
“That was one of the best shows that I’ve ever seen, and I mean of any kind. The last match they had, with Del Rio and Hijo del Vikingo, was one of the best matches I’ve seen this year, this year, this decade. It was absolutely fantastic. They did tons of run-ins and a lot of stuff that doesn’t make a lot of sense to American wrestling fans, but that all made sense.”
Rey de Reyes has been a cornerstone of AAA’s calendar for years, showcasing some of the promotion’s top stars. However, this year’s show appears to have made a particularly powerful impact on JBL, who has seen countless wrestling events over his long career.
Who Did JBL Say Is On His Mount Rushmore Of Professional Wrestling Tag Teams?
JBL picked his Mount Rushmore of professional wrestling tag teams, and his final pick was quite surprising. He picked some legendary teams for his first three picks in The Road Warriors, Animal and Hawk, The Steiner Brothers, and The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express. However, JBL then struggled to make his fourth and final pick before settling on the New Age Outlaws.
