JBL Names Top 3 Picks For Hypothetical WWE Brawl For All 2025 Return

WWE Hall of Famer John Bradshaw Layfield has shared his picks for who he thinks could win a modern-day Brawl for All tournament.

Speaking on the Something to Wrestle podcast, JBL looked back on his own experience in the original 1998 Brawl for All, where he made it to the final before being knocked out by Bart Gunn on the 24 August edition of Raw.

When asked who might triumph in a 2025 version, JBL named three wrestlers he believes would be tough to beat.

“There are some pretty good shooters there. Chad Gable is a really good shooter and a good wrestler. You’ve got some tough guys. Sheamus, I think, would do great just because he’s a big tough guy, 100% Bobby Lashley, no doubt about it. Armed Forces Champion, legit tough guy and can bench press the freaking world, I’m pretty safe in betting on Lashley,” he said.

Chad Gable, currently competing under the mask as “El Grande Americano”, remains a regular on WWE programming. Sheamus, a veteran of the WWE since 2006, has recently been locked in a feud with Intercontinental Champion Bron Breakker.

However, Bobby Lashley’s participation in any WWE version of the tournament would be unlikely, as he is now contracted to AEW. His current deal would prevent him from entering a WWE-organised Brawl for All, should it ever return.

The original Brawl for All, a mix of boxing and wrestling, remains a controversial chapter in WWE’s history. Although Bart Gunn emerged victorious, the tournament was heavily criticised for its real injuries and the fact that winning did little to elevate Gunn’s career.

Which Former WWE Writer Does JBL Believe Was Responsible For Some Of Wrestling’s Worst Ideas Ever?

JBL spoke about how he believes Vince Russo is an “abysmal failure” due to his belief that Russo is responsible for some of professional wrestling’s worst ideas ever. JBL said ideas such as the Brawl for All tournament, the infamous Viagra on a pole match, and the Judy Bagwell on a Forklift match. He also said that David Arquette winning the WCW World Championship was Russo’s idea as well.
