JBL Makes Major Prediction About John Cena’s Retirement Plans
JBL has a great scenario in mind for John Cena’s final adieu.
JBL and John Cena have had one of the greatest rivalries in the WWE. The two have faced each other a number of times, and now, with Cena retiring, the WWE Hall of Famer spoke about how he sees one of his greatest foes riding into the sunset.
On the latest episode of Something To Wrestle With Bruce Prichard, JBL answered a fan’s question that got him thinking whether John Cena would retire as a heel. The former WWE Champion said that he doesn’t think Cena will retire as a heel.
“I think it’s one of these things where they want him to come back and be Cena so badly that when it’s all said and done, if he just comes out the next night as a babyface, the place would go nuts. Look at this scenario, if he stays a heel, let’s say, and his last match is on a Sunday. He comes out on Monday night RAW, the next night, and you know that’s the last time you’re going to see him. And he comes out, that place is going to go crazy cheering for him because they’re going to be so thankful for what he’s done.” [32:40 – 33:13]
JBL Turned Down One Of John Cena’s Requests
John Cena and JBL have locked horns many times in the past. The two have feuded over the WWE Championship for the majority of Cena’s initial pursuit of the title. At the time, JBL was heading a faction of his own known as The Cabinet with Orlando Jordan and The Basham Brothers.
During an interview, JBL was asked whether he ever refused to take a move in his career. The 58-year-old legend recalled that John Cena wanted to hit him and Orlando Jordan with a Double AA. The move would require JBL to be right on top when the Cenation Leader picked the two up on his shoulders.
JBL turned down Cena’s request at the time, stating that he would get hurt too badly and that the move had hurt him before. In retrospect, he regretted not taking the bump.
