Jay White Pulled From AEW Tournament & Faces Surgery

Jay White

Jay White has been pulled out of the Owen Hart Tournament and now faces surgery after suffering an injury.

On Dynamite in Peoria, Illinois, commentary revealed that Jay White had been attacked backstage by the Death Riders and as a result was pulled out of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament. In recent weeks White has been at odds with the Death Riders, helping Adam Copeland in his battle with Jon Moxley’s team.

During the show, Will Ospreay teamed with AEW’s newest signing Kevin Knight to face Blake Christian and Lee Johnson. Ospreay and Knight won the match but afterwards, they found out that Knight had been named as White’s replacement and as a result would face Ospreay in the first round of the Owen at Dynasty on April 6.

Jay White Needs Surgery

Fightful Select has now confirmed that Jay White has suffered a legitimate injury and the decision was made to create a storyline reason to explain his absence. Switchblade is expected to undergo surgery but the exact nature of his injury has not been revealed.

It was noted that White’s injury has caused some major creative changes as a result of his removal from the Owen Hart Tournament. Jay White missed three months of action in 2024 after losing in the semi-final of that year’s Owen Hart Cup to Hangman Adam Page.
