Janel Grant Files To Amend Vince McMahon Lawsuit

Vince McMahon

The legal back and forth between Janel Grant, WWE, Vince McMahon, and John Laurinaitis continues.

New court filings from Janel Grant’s attorneys indicate that she is planning to amend her lawsuit against Vince McMahon, WWE, and John Laurinaitis. The updated complaint will be filed on January 15th, 2025, a little under a year after the original suit was filed.

There’s no word on what these changes are likely to be.

The lawsuit underwent a six-month-long stay through the second half of the year, although this expired on December 11th. The stay was introduced as McMahon was subject to a federal investigation. With the stay no longer intact, McMahon, WWE, and Laurinaiti refiled motions to compel arbitration.

POST Wrestling shared the following details from the filings.

“While it will be impossible to fully remedy the wrong of publicizing [Grant’s] salacious and false allegations, Defendant McMahon will pursue appropriate remedies at the proper juncture,” McMahon’s attorney wrote.

“Vince McMahon’s motion to compel arbitration is another desperate attempt to silence Janel Grant,” Grant’s lead attorney Ann Callis said in a statement to POST Wrestling. “We know the truth of his abusive and exploitative behavior against Ms. Grant, including sexual assault and human trafficking. Ms. Grant deserves the opportunity to tell her story and have her day in court.”

Under federal court rules, Grant can amend the lawsuit once without needing permission from the court.

In the new filing, emails show that Grant’s attorney Ann Callis informed the defence on December 16th, of her client’s intention to amend the suit on January 15th. McMahon’s lead attorney Jessica Rosenberg replied “We will connect with our respective clients on this and get back to you shortly.”

As noted by Brandon Thurston:

In her related motion, Callis framed Rosenberg’s response as “on behalf of all Defendants”, including McMahon, WWE, and Laurinaitis, suggesting coordination between WWE’s and McMahon’s legal teams despite WWE’s efforts to quietly distance itself from McMahon since his resignation.

Vince McMahon Accused Of Sexual Abuse

In January 2024, former WWE employee Janel Grant filed a lawsuit against Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis, and WWE. The lawsuit contained allegations of sexual assault and sex trafficking.

Among the allegations in the suit, Grant claimed that McMahon recruited a “Physical Therapist” from an “Alternative Clinic” to participate in threesomes with the pair. Grant claims she was forced into these sex acts and others by the former WWE boss.

There were also allegations that McMahon offered potential sexual encounters with Grant in a bid to get Brock Lesnar to re-sign with the company. As a result, Lesnar’s planned return at the 2024 Royal Rumble was scrapped, and he hasn’t featured on WWE television since.

All defendants continue to deny any wrongdoing.
