Jake Roberts Remembers Issuing Warning To Former WWE Star Just Weeks Before They Were Stabbed

Jake Roberts Recalls Being Shocked He Wasn't Part Of The 2014 Royal Rumble

WWE Hall of Famer Jake Roberts has revealed he cautioned The Nasty Boys about the consequences of their out-of-control antics shortly before Brian Knobbs was seriously injured in a stabbing incident in early 1992.

Speaking on his podcast The Snake Pit, Jake Roberts was asked to share his thoughts on the tag team duo of Brian Knobbs and Jerry Sags, known for their chaotic behaviour both in and out of the ring.

“Those guys were too much, man,” Roberts said. “I remember one time I told them, they got in a fight at a bar, and I pulled them aside, and I said, ‘Look, guys… It’s different, man, now you’re on TV everywhere, you’ve got to be careful where you go and what you do,’ I said, ‘These people don’t give a sh*t. Somebody will wind up sticking a fu*king knife in you.’”

Shockingly, Roberts’ grim prediction came true in a matter of weeks.

“It wasn’t two weeks later, somebody stuck a knife in Brian Knobbs,” he added.

The violent incident occurred on 5 January 1992. While travelling with fellow wrestler I.R.S., Knobbs and Sags found themselves in a confrontation with a group of young men. The altercation escalated, ending with Knobbs being stabbed four times and Sags sustaining a concussion.

The injuries forced Knobbs to miss the 1992 Royal Rumble, a major WWE event. Despite the severity of the wounds, he made a remarkably quick recovery and returned to the ring within a month.

Does Jake Roberts Believe He Could Have Surpassed Hulk Hogan’s Popularity?

Jake Roberts spoke about whether he believes that he could have surpassed Hulk Hogan’s popularity during the late 1980s and said he believes he could have surpassed Hogan and become WWE’s top babyface star if he had been given the opportunity. However, Roberts also expressed that he despised working as a face as he felt it handcuffed his creativity in the ring and preferred to work as a heel.
