WWE Superstar Jade Cargill suffered a neck injury in November 2024 that forced her off WWE television for several months.

The 2-time WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion was written off the television in a storyline where she was attacked by a mystery assailant on the November 22, 2024, episode of SmackDown. Cargill returned to action at Elimination Chamber in Toronto and attacked Naomi, revealing that she was behind the assault.

Jade Cargill challenged Tiffany Stratton for the WWE Women’s Championship at SummerSlam, although she was unsuccessful in winning the gold. Ahead of the WWE biggest event of the summer, The Storm joined Jeff Teague on the Club 520 podcast where she discussed her neck injury. The injury was serious enough that surgery was a possibility, but she did not need surgery at the time.

Speaking on the podcast, she revealed that although she avoided surgery initially, she will eventually have to undergo the procedure to fully fix the issue. She did not specify the exact type or severity of her neck injury, just disclosed that she didn’t tear anything.

“I didn’t tear anything. It was more of a neck injury that could have led to surgery, but I didn’t need it. Eventually, I will, like all wrestlers do, but thankfully, not yet,” Cargill said. [From 30:39 to 30:48]

Jade Cargill’s loss at SummerSlam was more than just a defeat. It made her appear weak in front of millions of fans. In just seven minutes, The Buff Barbie pinned her to retain the WWE Women’s Championship, potentially harming her star power.

One possible reason behind WWE booking her to lose so quickly was explained by Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio podcast. Meltzer noted that WWE doesn’t consider Jade Cargill to be on the same level as other top stars like Rhea Ripley.
