Update On Jade Cargill After Gruesome WWE SmackDown Injury
Jade Cargill suffered a nasty injury on SmackDown.
On the September 26 edition of SmackDown, Tiffany Stratton successfully defended her Women’s Championship against Nia Jax and Jade Cargill, but that was only part of the story.
The match featured multiple awkward moments, including deep into the action when Stratton was late to break up a pin by Storm on Jax, meaning Jax had to kick out. Immediately after that, Stratton pinned Jax, but the referee stopped counting at two, despite the star not moving. Jax then kicked out very late after clearly speaking to the referee.
Earlier, Jax threw Cargill into the steel steps, with the latter crashing headfirst. This caused a huge, bloody gash on Cargill’s head, and she finished the match with blood streaming down her face.
The bout was later described as WWE’s worst match of the year by Dave Meltzer, who highlighted the several botches that took away from the action. He added that he was “shocked by how bad it was.”
Good News On Jade Cargill
Despite the awful-looking nature of the injury, thankfully, it appears that Cargill has escaped relatively unscathed. According to a new report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Cargill required several stitches to close the wound, but didn’t need plastic surgery.
As noted by Johnson, the belief within WWE is that Cargill will be cleared to get back in the ring in a few weeks, and there’s no indication she’s been taken off the road.
Following her win on SmackDown, Tiffany Stratton will now face Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer at Crown Jewel.
