Jade Cargill Reveals Backstage Conversation With Triple H After WWE Title Win
Jade Cargill became the Women’s WWE Champion for the first time at Saturday Night’s Main Event XLI.
Cargill set up a title match against then-champion Tiffany Stratton by turning heel and attacking the latter on the October 24 episode of SmackDown.
During her attack, Cargill took out Stratton’s knee, which proved detrimental for her going into her title defense against The Storm.
Expectedly, the 33-year-old star dominated Stratton, squashing her for her first singles title in the company.
While speaking on The Collection podcast recently, Jade Cargill discussed her tenure in WWE, having debuted at last year’s Royal Rumble.
She also revealed the details about her interaction with Triple H, post-winning her maiden WWE Championship.
He actually wasn’t there that day… but that following Friday, he did. He was just telling me how proud he was of me and, you know, how much I’ve grown in this company and that, you know, the hard work is just starting.
How Jade Cargill Prepared Herself Mentally For WWE
Jade Cargill was destined to become the Women’s WWE Champion.
While the initial year saw her form alliances and compete in tag teams, she ultimately went down the singles route to establish herself as a threat to every woman on the roster.
Cargill spoke about how she spent the first year in the Stamford promotion studying the mannerisms of other champions.
I sat back for the entire first year I was here and I watched the champions and I watched how you all dealt with the pressure and how you all dealt with your home life situation. And I asked a lot of questions.
She also brought her husband along for the ride of her life.
One thing I did tell my husband prior to this run I’m having right now was, ‘Hey, it’s going to be a wild ride and I need you to hang on tight. I’m going to be sleepy. I’m going to be tired. I’m going to be all these things. I’m going to have all these feelings and I need you to understand what I’m doing right now and the purpose behind it all.
Jade Cargill even credited the WWE support system for helping her become self-aware and learn how to thrive under pressure.
I wouldn’t say the weight is heavy as you would think because I have such a great supporting cast behind the scenes at WWE. And a lot of champions have groomed me to be in this position… me sitting back and watching them and trying to emulate what they were doing has prepared me right now to hold this gold.
