Jack Perry’s AEW Return Heavily Teased After Another Long Absence
Forbidden Door saw two major returns to AEW, but is the comeback of the missing Jack Perry also just around the corner?
At Forbidden Door in London, England, Swerve Strickland was left broken and defeated by AEW Unified Champion Kazuchika Okada. Okada beat Strickland in their title match before he targeted Strickland’s leg with a steel chair. After that assault, Wardlow made his shock return to AEW, where he assaulted Prince Nana. The former TNT Champion then embraced Don Callis as the newest member of his ever-growing Family.
The show also saw Jamie Hayter make her return after weeks out due to an injury suffered at Forbidden Door. Hayter set her sights on Thekla and the Triangle of Madness as they attacked Queen Aminata.
Now it seems like another return could be imminent as well.
On the Being The Elite YouTube channel, The Young Bucks released a short video of them watching back their Forbidden Door loss. Surrounded by Papa John’s pizza and Pepsi bottles made of real glass, Matt Jackson’s phone begins to ring.
As the camera zooms in, it can be seen that the person phoning Jackson is none other than the missing Jack Perry. Jackson rejects the call, however, as he goes back to watching the TV to see Hiroshi Tanahashi get the pinfall victory.
Where Has Jack Perry Been?
The last time AEW fans saw Jack Perry on TV was back in January at Wrestle Dynasty, where he lost to Yota Tsuji in a match for the IWGP Global Title. Perry already suffered a nine-month absence from AEW for his part in the backstage altercation that led to CM Punk being fired by Tony Khan in 2023.
Dave Meltzer gave some insight into Perry’s absence in June when it was noted that the star was not injured and instead was just not being booked by Tony Khan:
Jack Perry, I know is – he can be booked, he’s just not right now, as far as why I don’t know. I just remember I had a conversation about when Jack Perry’s coming back and it’s like he is, [Tony Khan’s] got the guys he’s using right now and when he has the need for Jack Perry to be back, he’ll be back. I don’t know when that’ll be.
But now it looks like Perry might be back sooner rather than later and could rejoin his partners in The Elite once again.
