Jack Perry Says Title Win Proves He’s The Future

Jack Perry wins the TNT Title

Jack Perry isn’t lacking in confidence.

Since returning to AEW in April to join The Elite, Jack Perry’s star has never shone brighter. In the eyes of many fans, the star has upped his performances significantly and has been a man rejuvenated since coming back into the fold after his NJPW excursion.

This resurgence reached a new high at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door when he emerged victorious from a chaotic six-man Ladder Match to claim the TNT Championship. Mark Briscoe had seemingly been on the brink of taking the gold, but Perry intervened with several sickening swings of a steel chair.

The match was an incredibly bruising affair all around, and it’s been announced Lio Rush will miss an independent date following injuries suffered in the contest

Jack Perry In Confident Mood

Speaking in a backstage interview after his big win, Perry took the opportunity to fire back at those he claims don’t want him in AEW.

“I’ve been back here two months. In that time, I joined The Elite, I hit Tony Khan, I got rid of Kenny Omega, I pinned Bryan Danielson, and, I’m the TNT Champion. Get a good shot of that right there. You know what that says? That says that I’m the future. That says that I’m the face of this network, even though half the guys in these locker rooms, they probably don’t even want me here. Well, guess what? I ain’t going anywhere,”

While Swerve Strickland retained the World Championship with a win over Will Ospreay at Forbidden Door, Tetsuya Naito beat Jon Moxley to win the IWGP Heavyweight Title and Mercedes Mone beat Stephanie Vaquer to take home the NJPW Strong Women’s Title.
