Jack Perry Loses TNT Championship At AEW Full Gear
Jack Perry’s run as TNT Champion is over.
The Scapegoat Jack Perry might have enjoyed an incredibly fruitful 2024, but it seems his year will end on a low following a crushing defeat at Full Gear.
After returning from suspension and exile in NJPW, Perry made an instant impression at Dynasty back in April helping the Young Bucks win the World Tag Team Titles. He then helped The Elite overcome team AEW in Anarchy In The Arena before winning the TNT Title at Forbidden Door.
Following seven successful title defences, Perry became locked in a rivalry with Daniel Garcia who was determined to prove his recent commitment to AEW was the right decision. The feud has been heavy with mind games, and that continued at Full Gear, with both men trying to prove a point before the opening bell sounded.
Jack Perry’s Title Reign Ends
The champion started the match on the backfoot but earned a measure of control following a draping DDT from the apron to the floor after Garcia had been forced to break the referee’s ten-count. Although Garcia showed signs of life over the subsequent minutes, he appeared all but finished heading into the final stages.
However, on this night, Garcia wasn’t to be denied. As the pair exchanged slaps, Garcia began hitting a series of heavy chops into Perry’s chest, only for the champion to laugh. But Perry’s confidence and bravado was soon undone following a Piledriver, and Garcia’s Dragon Tamer Sharpshooter.
Perry fought the pain and almost made it to the ropes, but after being dragged back into the middle of the ring he was forced to submit.
Garcia celebrated his victory wrapped in an AEW flag, just weeks after revealing he’d signed a new contract with the company.
