IWGP Women’s Championship Belt Unveiled
The design for the new IWGP Women’s Championship belt has been unveiled ahead of crowning the first title holder later this year.
It was announced earlier this week that New Japan Pro Wrestling would be working alongside Stardom to crown the first ever IWGP Women’s Champion. This is a move which has been a long time coming, with NJPW in recent years featuring women’s matches at Wrestle Kingdom but having no direct division of its own.
The tournament will feature two brackets in the quarter-finals, one for Stardom and the other for Internationals. The first match will take place at the second night of Royal Quest on 2nd October 2022 in Crystal Palace, England. The tournament will then continue through to the Historic X-Over event which is set to take place on 20th November in the Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan.
Further to this, it has also been confirmed that the first official defence of the title belt will take place as part of Wrestle Kingdom in 2023.
Ahead of the tournament, Stardom have now unveiled the design for the new championship belt.
