Is WWE Preparing To Being Back Old PLE?

A former WWE Premium Live Event could return.

According to a new filing with the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO), WWE has filed to trademark Clash Of Champions. Unsurprisingly, this quickly led to fan speculation that the event could make a return to the Premium Live Event calendar.

When Was The Last WWE Clash Of Champions?

Clash of Champions was introduced in 2016 as a replacement for Night of Champions, which had been a regular presence on the schedule since 2007. Although that first event was promoted as “Vengeance: Night of Champions.”

However, just four Clash of Champions events were held until it was also dropped after the 2020 edition of the show.

This saw the return of Night of Champions in 2023, with the 2025 edition hosting the finals of King and Queen of the Ring in Saudi Arabia.

Clash of Champions has no connection to Clash of the Champions, which was launched in 1988 by Jim Crockett Promotions and continued under the WCW banner until 1997.
