Is MJF Still Under Contract With AEW?
MJF remains out of the spotlight.
MJF hasn’t stepped in the ring since being defeated by Samoa Joe at Worlds End. At the event, the Salt of the Earth lost the AEW World Championship before being confronted by Adam Cole and subsequently attacked by his new faction the Undisputed Kingdom.
Heading into the match the now-former champion had been struggling with a torn labrum and a hip injury, the latter stemming from his match with Jay White at Full Gear.
To add further intrigue, the 28-year-old star had claimed his AEW future was uncertain. However, it seems that was nothing more than MJF playing games with fans.
As reported by Mike Johnson of PWInsider, the star is working to recover from his multiple injuries, and despite not being listed on the AEW roster page the belief is he’s “locked into a deal” with the company.
The report adds that MJf recently met with AEW officials the day after Big Business earlier in the month. The reason behind the meeting is unknown, and there remains no word on when the star will return.
MJF Remains Secretive
The report from Johnson comes after Dave Meltzer reiterated that MJF was dealing with a “significant” shoulder injury. Meltzer added that the star is being as secretive as possible about his recovery.
During a previous absence from AEW, the former World Champion all but disappeared from public life before returning to the company at All Out 2022
