Is CM Punk Failing As WWE World Heavyweight Champion?
WWE fans are seemingly split over the success of CM Punk’s World Heavyweight Championship reign.
After suffering a legitimate injury, Seth Rollins vacated the World Heavyweight Championship before his scheduled title match against CM Punk at Saturday Night’s Main Event last month.
The Best in the World then defeated Jey Uso, who earned his shot after winning a Battle Royal, to capture the title at the special event on November 1st.
CM Punk Has Not Defended The WWE World Heavyweight Championship So Far
Since winning the World Heavyweight Championship, CM Punk has not defended it. Instead, he competed in only two tag team matches and the men’s WarGames.
On the Keepin’ It 100 podcast, wrestling veteran Disco Inferno responded to a fan criticizing Punk’s title reign, claiming the 47-year-old does not draw. The former WCW star disagreed with that opinion, pointing out that The Best in the World is an excellent wrestler.
I like Punk, he’s the world champion because he cuts an excellent promo and knows how to sell his matches. He goes out there and wrestles a very logical WWE-style match. He’s an excellent professional wrestler. I have zero problems with him. He’s over, just look at his numbers. You can knock him for the UFC stuff, but beyond that, all the metrics on this guy are really good.
