Injury May Force Tony Khan To Strip AEW Star Of Championship
One AEW star is set to be out for quite some time, and this could force Tony Khan to take action over the championship picture.
Dustin Rhodes captured the TNT Title at All In Texas as he won a four-way match for the vacant championship. Adam Cole was forced to relinquish the title due to injury issues as he contemplated retirement from the ring.
The curse of that gold has struck again, as Dustin Rhodes is being forced to undergo knee replacement surgery, which will keep him out of the ring for quite some time. Rhodes lost the TNT Title to Kyle Fletcher before news of his injury broke.
Tony Khan Has To Make 2 Title Decisions
However, as Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer has pointed out, this leaves Tony Khan with questions to answer about the future of both the ROH Tag Team and Six-Man Tag Team Championships, which Rhodes also holds. It was suggested that Tony Khan might have to vacate these titles due to Rhodes’ absence.
Dustin Rhodes captured the ROH Six-Man Tag Team Championship with Ross and Marshall Von Erich at Battle of the Belts in July 2024. Just three weeks after that win, Rhodes teamed with Sammy Guevara to form The Sons of Texas and win the ROH Tag Team Championship from Matt Taven and Mike Bennett.
