How Injury Changed Plans For “Hangman” Adam Page Match At AEW All Out

Hangman Adam Page AEW World Champion

The original plans for AEW World Champion “Hangman” Adam Page were different at the All Out PPV, but a significant injury changed things.

“Hangman” Adam Page picked up a big win on AEW Dynamite in Philadelphia when he defeated Josh Alexander of the Don Callis Family in a competitive match.

After the match was over, the TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher (also of the Don Callis Family) mentioned that he challenged Page to an AEW World Title on Collision, but he hadn’t heard from the champion. Page told Fletcher to join him in the ring.

When Fletcher got in the ring, Page said that Fletcher wasn’t ready. Fletcher disagreed and said he’s ready right now. Page told Fletcher he can challenge for the AEW World Title, but leave the Don Callis Family out of it. Fletcher said he doesn’t need them, and he’s leaving All Out as the AEW World Champion.

It was made official after that. At AEW All Out on September 20th, “Hangman” Adam Page will defend the AEW World Title against Kyle Fletcher, who is the TNT Champion, but that title is not on the line.

AEW Wanted Adam Page To Face Wardlow At All Out

Fightful Select reports that the original plan for All Out was for “Hangman” Adam Page to defend the World Title against Wardlow, who is a former TNT Champion.

However, Wardlow suffered a torn pectoral injury that required surgery and could be out of action for 6 to 8 months. It’s an unfortunate injury for Wardlow, who was sidelined for more than a year due to a serious injury and filming two seasons of the new American Gladiators show.

The report from Fightful states that Wardlow suffered an arm injury when he hit a clothesline on Swerve Strickland’s manager, Prince Nana.

After Wardlow was injured, AEW had to make a pivot and went with the TNT Champion Fletcher as Page’s opponent at All Out. While a title change seems unlikely, it should be an outstanding match.

Even though plans had to be changed, AEW personnel are happy with how Fletcher has done in the spot as Page’s next challenger.
