Injured WWE Star’s Health Status Questioned By Critics

A WWE superstar is reportedly injured, according to a recent television announcement, but some critics question its validity.

The WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles were on the line on the October 17th episode of SmackDown as Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss defended the gold against NXT’s Sol Ruca and Zaria.

During the match, Ruca’s opponent at Halloween Havoc, Blake Monroe, was at ringside, and her presence distracted Ruca. That led to Flair doing a chop block to Ruca, which led to Flair finishing off Ruca with a Figure Eight submission in the ring.

On the October 21st episode of WWE NXT, the NXT Women’s North American Champion and Women’s WWE Speed Champion, Sol Ruca, was in the ring for a promo with her best friend, Zaria, and NXT GM, Ava. Ruca had crutches and a large brace on her left knee. Ruca said she can’t compete at Halloween Havoc due to an injury, but she didn’t specify how long she’ll be out or the specific injury.

Zaria suggested that she would defend the NXT Women’s North American Title against Blake Monroe at Halloween Havoc, and Ava left it up to Ruca to decide if it was okay. Ruca claimed she was fine with it. Zaria got into an altercation with Monroe and stood tall with the title in her hands.

Is WWE’s Sol Ruca Really Dealing With An Injury?

On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez discussed the angle involving her and expressed doubt about whether she is even injured. Alvarez spoke about the SmackDown match where Ruca was supposedly injured.

Alvarez: “There was a spot in the match where she supposedly injured her knee, but watching this whole segment, the way they did it, the way everybody responded to everything, it was just, I don’t know, man.”

Regarding the segment on NXT, Alvarez stated, “I didn’t buy it.”

Dave Meltzer would go on to express his doubt about Ruca’s injury story.

Meltzer: “I wasn’t that convinced either. It felt way too storyline, but it’s one of those things. They are — I have not had anyone confirm the injury to me, but I have had nobody not confirm it, which also when that happens, that’s the same thing that happened with [Seth] Rollins. Although I did have people not confirm it…”

The Rollins mention was in reference to his supposed knee injury in the summer, which was just an angle to fool people into thinking he was hurt, but he really was doing it to set up his Money in the Bank cash-in on CM Punk at SummerSlam.
