Injured WWE Star Undergoes Surgery

Another WWE star won’t wrestle again for several months.

On the January 24 episode of SmackDown, Apollo Crews took on and defeated Johnny Gargano. Crews hadn’t been a regular on television for several months but after a tag team outing in mid-December, he returned to singles action.

However, the match didn’t go totally to plan, and it quickly became clear that Crews had suffered an injury. While it was initially hoped the injury wouldn’t be anything serious, that unfortunately isn’t the case.

WWE Star Suffers Torn Pec

In a new post on Instagram, Crews confirmed that he suffered a torn pec during the match, describing the incident as something beyond his control. The star added that he’s now undergone surgery and is looking forward to starting his rehabilitation.

Heading into surgery today.

A few weeks ago on SmackDown, I tore my pec—an unfortunate situation. Sometimes, you do everything right, but there are just some things beyond your control. I’m looking forward to the road ahead, attacking it with a positive and unstoppable mindset. —-

And enjoy my clean shave! It has been a while since I have seen this baby face!

The news of Crews’ injury came after JD McDonagh suffered broken ribs and a punctured lung during a match on the January 27 edition of Monday Night Raw. While hitting a moonsault from the outside of the ring to the ringside area, McDonagh landed awkwardly against the commentary table.

Meanwhile, Dakota Kai is yet to return to action after being placed into concussion protocol after an incident a week earlier.

The pair join long-term absentees Tonga Loa and Bronson Reed on the injury list. Both men suffered injuries during WarGames at Survivor Series, and while WWE is hoping to have Loa back in the mix for WrestleMania, Reed has already confirmed he’ll miss the event.

Everyone at TJR Wrestling would like to wish Apollo Crews a speedy recovery.
