Injured WWE Star Returns After 7 Months Out

After undergoing surgery for a serious foot injury, one WWE star is finally back in the ring after seven months on the shelf.

Javier Bernal missed the rest of 2024 after suffering a serious foot injury back in June 2024. The star signed with WWE in 2021 but struggled to gain much traction on the NXT roster in that time.

Bernal teamed with Drake Morreaux in a match where they lost to Duke Hudson & Riley Osborne on the 4th of June. During that match, Bernal suffered a foot injury that ended up requiring surgery.

Speaking on his Twitch channel not long after the injury, Bernal revealed how long he was going to have to miss from the ring:

I found out the other day that I broke my foot in a few places, so, you know, that sucks. Yeah, it’s kind of hard to say out loud….let’s get through this. So, excuse me. A lot of you guys know me as Big Body Javi on television but, this is all I ever wanted to do man… That’s tough, man, that’s tough.

You guys probably saw a clip and I’m sure I’ll post a clip in the next few days. I broke my foot in a few places. It stinks. It is what it is.

I found out — what is it? Two days ago, I broke it in a few places, and initially, I was told that I probably wasn’t going to need surgery, but then, the next day, the M.R.I. was a little cloudy, and they looked at it, and it looks like I probably will have surgery on my foot.

I was looking at six weeks with no surgery, and from what I understand, it’s looking like six months.

Javier Bernal Returns To WWE Ring

Now Javier Bernal has returned to the ring in a dark match before the January 21 edition of NXT. Bernal defeated Saquon Shugars in his first bout in seven months.

That edition of NXT television saw Corey Graves return to the WWE announce desk following his social media outburst over his role in the company.
