Injured AEW Star Will Be Out For Two Years
An AEW star has delivered an unfortunate injury update.
Disaster struck on the October 11 episode of Collision when Kota Ibushi suffered a broken femur during his match with Josh Alexander.
While Alexander had Ibushi in a Fireman’s Carry position on the middle rope in the corner, the pair lost balance and fell backwards out of the ring. Once they’d crashed to the floor, Ibushi immediately grabbed his leg, and Alexander got back in the ring as his rival was counted out.
In the midst of the post-match angle, Ibushi was tended to by doctors and later taken away in an ambulance.
Following the show, Ibushi confirmed that he’d already undergone surgery, but it seems his road back to the ring will be a long one.

In a new post on social media, he revealed that he’s preparing for a year-long recovery period, but it will be two years before he can wrestle again. However, in typical Ibushi-style, he’s determined not to quit.
My current condition. One year to fully recover. Two years until I can step into the ring again. I believe in myself more than the doctors. I absolutely don’t believe in that. I know I have amazing DNA that gives me the ability to heal!!”
Ibushi has endured an injury-hit run since sustaining a serious shoulder injury back in 2021. The star didn’t return to the ring for 18 months, and in January 2024, he suffered a major ankle injury while dealing with an existing ankle issue.
