Injured AEW Star Credits Tony Khan Paying For Surgery

Wrestlers have often publicly credited Tony Khan for his compassion and financial support during their tough times.

Over the past few years, the AEW President has personally paid for multiple surgeries and medical expenses for AEW wrestlers when insurance or other coverage failed.

For instance, when Eddie Kingston’s insurance refused coverage for both his knee (after a broken leg and ACL injury) and an earlier hernia operation, Khan stepped in and paid, ensuring he received proper treatment.

Mark Davis was injured before officially signing with AEW. When his insurance wouldn’t cover the procedure, Khan personally covered the surgery costs to help facilitate his debut.

Also, Khan reportedly donated $10,000 to GoFundMe, which covered Kevin Sullivan’s medical bills, even though Sullivan was not directly affiliated with AEW.

Tony Khan Paid For The Blade’s Spinal Surgery and Therapy

The Blade suffered a spinal injury last year, which forced him to go on hiatus. He also underwent spinal fusion surgery, which Tony Khan paid for. The AEW CEO also paid for his therapy.

Speaking in an interview with Talk N’ Shop, the injured AEW star revealed Tony Khan’s generosity and expressed gratitude towards the AEW head honcho and his wrestling promotion.

“I had a back fusion, spinal fusion, on September 10th of ’24. It’s been about a year now, and I’m getting close to going back to doctors, getting cleared, the whole thing… I’ve been wrestling 25 years, you know, I’ve had a bad back for a long time. Like, AEW f**king took care of my surgery, they took care of my physical therapy, like they’ve been taking care of me for like over a year now; I’m really, really grateful for that job.”

In other injury news, Hologram is out of action indefinitely due to an injury he suffered recently. He was set to challenge Kyle Fletcher for his TNT Championship in a streak vs. title match on the 6th anniversary edition of Dynamite, in Hollywood, Florida, on October 1st.

Tony Khan posted on social media:

“Get well soon, @AEWHologram! After an unprovoked attack backstage at #AEWCollision tonight by TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher, Hologram has significant injuries. We’re all cheering for Hologram + wishing him the best in his recovery. Sadly, Hologram likely is out the rest of 2025,”
