Infamous Brock Lesnar WWE Title Win Blasted By Former Champion

One of the more controversial WWE Championship wins of Brock Lesnar’s career has been slammed as ridiculous by a former star.

Brock Lesnar became the youngest man to win the WWE Championship when he defeated The Rock at SummerSlam 2002 to win the gold for the very first time, just four months after making his TV debut in the company.

Since then, Lesnar has gone on to become a seven-time WWE Champion as well as a three-time Universal Champion during his iconic career in the company. But one of his title wins annoyed many more fans than it made happy.

On the premier edition of SmackDown on Fox back in October 2019, KofiMania came crashing to an end as the WWE Championship won by Kofi Kingston at WrestleMania 35 was taken off him by Brock Lesnar in just seven seconds as the company looked to build to a bout between Lesnar and his old UFC rival Cain Velasquez.

MVP Not Happy With Brock Lesnar’s 7-Second Win

Speaking on the Markin’ Out podcast, current AEW star MVP shared his thoughts on WWE’s decision to have Kingston lose in such a limp fashion and says a lot of people felt disgusted by it:

I thought that was just stupid killing Kofi off. I don’t know, I could be completely wrong, I feel there was some measure of disingenuousness with that. I can’t say exactly why. I thought there was no need to do that to Kofi. I thought that was ridiculous. A lot of people felt that way.

It was almost two years before Kofi Kingston got another shot at the WWE Title, and that came at Money In The Bank 2021, where Kingston unsuccessfully challenged Bobby Lashley for the gold.
