Big Name Indy Star Walks Away From WWE ID Program
A rising WWE star has announced they’ve left the company.
Highly-rated young star Zayda Steel has announced she will be leaving the WWE ID program when her contract expires.
The Virginia native had already impressed across the independent scene while appearing for the likes of MLW and Marigold before the sports entertainment giant came knocking shortly after her 21st birthday. Over the following 11 months, Zayda continued to wrestle on the independent circuit as well as competing on Evolve.
In a post on social media, Steel thanked WWE for their support, while promising fans that she’s just getting started.
I’ve decided not to renew my WWE ID contract. I’m incredibly grateful for all the knowledge, experience, and opportunities I’ve gained along the way, but at the end of the day, I have to do what’s best for me. I’m only 21, and have already done so much, but I’m just getting started! Thank you ❤️
Santos Escobar Makes Quick WWE Return
The announcement comes after a remarkable U-turn from Santos Escobar that saw him leave and then quickly re-sign with WWE.
On October 6, it was reported that Escobar would be leaving the company after turning down a new contract. It’s believed that although he was offered a pay rise, the star held concerns about how he would be used on television. However, just two days later, it was reported that he’d agreed a new deal and would be staying put.
Escobar is expected to appear on television more regularly moving forward, while the new contract has come with a significant increase in pay.
As that story continued to play out, it was confirmed that Xavier Woods has signed a new multi-year deal with the company.
