Industry Figures Frustrated After WWE’s Late WrestleMania Switch
Not everyone is impressed with WWE’s new plans for WrestleMania 42.
On a day that became packed with news, speculation, rumour, and everything in between, it was revealed on May 22 that WrestleMania 42 in 2026 will no longer be taking place in New Orleans, Louisiana. This is despite The Rock announcing New Orleans as the host city on an episode of SmackDown in February.
The bombshell was followed by claims that the event could be held outside of North America, but it seems it will finally take place in a much more familiar location.
As reported by NOLA.com, WrestleMania 42 will be held in Las Vegas, the home of WrestleMania 41.
WWE’s WrestleMania Plans Cause Frustration
According to the latest update on the chaos from Fightful Select, it was noted that many within WWE were “shocked” by the switch. One talent added that, with no new venue confirmed, this marks the latest WrestleMania announcement in recent memory.
However, the roster was said to be “largely unfazed” by the news as their travel and scheduling is handled by the company for big events.
Fightful stated that WWE’s current leadership is more open to making changes if there’s greater money to be made elsewhere.
With regard to the event returning to Las Vegas, a deal hasn’t been finalised, but it’s expected to take place at Allegiant Stadium on April 18 and April 19.
However, the late change has caused “immediate frustration within the industry.” Sources claimed that Wrestlecon had already secured a venue contract in New Orleans for the 2016 edition of its event.
