Iconic WWE Tag Team Considering Retirement After Huge Title Match

A legendary WWE tag team is thinking about retirement if they lose an upcoming match.

When The Dudley Boyz were officially inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, Bubby Ray and D-Von Dudley decided to bring Edge & Christian and The Hardy Boyz (Matt & Jeff Hardy) on stage with them.

The reason is that those three tag teams created the iconic Tables, Ladders & Chairs tag team matches 25 years ago this month, and they are matches that will live on forever due to how incredible they were.

That trio of tag teams were not just some of the best teams of the Attitude Era, but they are still involved in the business today.

While Edge & Christian are no longer WWE guys, they are teaming up at AEW-NJPW Forbidden Door as Adam Copeland and Christian Cage.

As for the Hardys and Dudleys, both teams appeared ringside at WWE SummerSlam earlier this month because of their upcoming match against eachother.

The Hardys May Retire If They Can’t Beat WWE Rivals The Dudleys Aka Team 3D

At TNA Bound For Glory on October 12th, Team 3D will team up one more time to face the TNA World Tag Team Champions, Matt & Jeff Hardy, for what will likely be the final match between two legendary teams.

When The Hardys spoke to TMZ Sports about the match, Matt Hardy made some interesting comments that suggested that if they lose to Team 3D, then the Hardys may retire.

“I mean, hypothetically, if that did happen, if we went to Bound for Glory and The Dudley’s won the TNA World Tag Team Titles, I think we’ll have to take a long hard look in the mirror and kind of judge where we are at. Is it time to ride off into the sunset and do the TNA Hall of Fame, time to do the WWE Hall of Fame? You know, we’ll see.”

Since The Hardys, who have been teaming up regularly for the past 30 years, are still actively wrestling, it seems unlikely that they would lose to The Dudleys and retire, but it’s something Matt said to try to promote the match.

Matt Hardy has also made it clear that the Hardy brothers want to return to WWE and try to recapture the Tag Team Titles at least one more time before retiring for good. And once they do retire, they will join The Dudleys/3D in the WWE Hall of Fame.
