“I Was Hurt” – Ex-WWE Star Opens Up On Experience With Triple H

Triple H WWE Netflix

Triple H made ex-WWE star realize he needed to improve his wrestling skills.

Maven’s WWE journey began in 2001 when he won the first season of Tough Enough, quickly making headlines by eliminating The Undertaker in the 2002 Royal Rumble. He soon became a three-time Hardcore Champion and had notable feuds and matches, including efforts against Evolution and Batista. Maven left WWE in July 2005 after a solid mid-card run and later appeared in the independent circuit, returning for occasional matches through 2024.

Today, Maven is best known for his successful YouTube channel, providing wrestling content and evergreen stories while avoiding the current product. He admits to being satisfied with his life beyond wrestling, expressing no regrets but acknowledging bittersweet feelings. He considers himself retired but remains open to special appearances if the opportunity excites him.

Maven Admits He “Wasn’t Ready” To Be A WWE Performer

Maven recently appeared on The Aerial Helwani Show, where he opened up about how the Chief Content Officer of WWE, Triple H, made him realize he needed to push himself more inside the ring and do better.

Hunter [Triple H] was having to call every spot to me, every spot, and it just hit me, like slapped me across the face. Man, I wasn’t ready. I wasn’t. Like, the veteran should be leading the rookie or the less knowledgeable guy through a match, but he shouldn’t have to call every spot. There was a spot where I came up and I punched him, and you see him, his head go down, and he tells me, stay on me, punch me again, stuff I know now, but I didn’t know then. So, yeah, I was mad and I was hurt and I was upset when they let me go, but this is all stuff I should have known.”

He should not have had to walk me through every, as far as, punch, okay, punch me, punch me. I should have known, stay on him, stay on him. Finding that out in real time while we were doing a video, it made me look at things a whole lot different. So, an anger I might have had at somebody or something for me feeling, maybe they didn’t give me my full opportunity, it was, you know, they should have. They had every right to let me go when they did.”
