Hulk Hogan’s New Venture Suffering Horrendous Ticket Sales
Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff have launched a new venture, but it seems so far ticket sales have fallen completely flat with fans.
Hulk Hogan reunited with Eric Bischoff for a bizarre video in April, where they reprised the NWO videos of old that proved popular in WCW. However, 30 years on, this new attempt proved anything but cool as they teased working with a third man.
Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff’s big reveal was called the biggest letdown ever by many, as they announced they were working with wrestling and MMA coach Izzy Martinez in a new venture called Real American Freestyle Wrestling.
Real American Freestyle Wrestling is being touted as an “unscripted freestyle wrestling league injected with storytelling and colourful characters.” The promotion has signed up former UFC star Ben Askren, Olympian Kennedy Blades, and national champion Zahid Valencia.
Hulk Hogan & Eric Bischoff’s New Venture Struggling To Sell Tickets
The new promotion’s debut event will take place on August 30th. Eric Bischoff isn’t concerned that they don’t have a TV outlet for it as yet, but he might be more worried about how tickets are selling for the event.
WrestleTix has reported that only 382 tickets have been distributed for the show in a venue that seats many more. But the number actually sold to the paying public could be much lower than that.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer gave some insight into where some of those tickets will be going, and it’s not great news for RAFW:
They have about 380 tickets out in a building that would sell out at about 13-plus. That’s not sold because you’re gonna have tickets blocked for comps and you’re gonna have tickets, especially the first time, you’re gonna have sponsors and investors and things like that and business partners for a new thing. I’m not saying all 380 are comps but probably most, so they basically have no tickets sold.
It’s only been a couple of days and the show’s August 30th so there’s plenty of time, two months plus. People weren’t dying to see this thing and they’ve done nothing to publicise it.
