“Nobody Wants To See That” – WWE Veteran Trashes Hulk Hogan Match Idea
A WWE veteran has blasted Hulk Hogan for a recent match idea that The Hulkster mentioned during an interview.
Considering Hulk Hogan’s age (69 years old) and the numerous surgeries he has had especially on his back, the thought of The Hulkster having another pro wrestling match seems ludicrous.
Recently, Hulk Hogan spoke about how Shane McMahon pitched the idea of having a match with Hogan. Here’s part of what Hogan said.
“You know what’s so funny, Shane McMahon called me. He goes, ‘Hey, you got one more in you, old man?’ I said, ‘Take it easy with the old man stuff, brother.’ I said, ‘What do you want to do?’ He goes, ‘All you gotta do is stand in the middle of the ring, and I’ll come do it.’ I said, ‘Right now, my back needs a little more work, but that’s something we can talk about next year.’”
“I’ve always wanted to have a retirement match. I’m not moving around the way I should be, so I’m going to keep working and keep training and keep doing rehab and see where I’m at about six months from now. All I found out in the wrestling business, brother, is you never say never.”
Hulk Hogan would go on to talk about how Shane McMahon pitched him ideas they could use for the story based on Hulk’s history with Shane’s father Vince McMahon. Hogan threw out the possibility of a match at WrestleMania 40 in April 2024, but it certainly is not a lock.
Dutch Mantell is a veteran of pro wrestling that was a wrestler, manager (WWE fans will remember him as Zeb Colter) and booker/writer as well. While speaking on his “Story Time With Dutch Mantell” Show, Dutch had some harsh words about Hulk Hogan having another match.
“More like s**t. Who wants to see that? Nobody. You know, the sun sets on everybody. It did set on Hulk Hogan and it damn sure set on Shane McMahon, even if he had a sunrise. The sun is still gonna set on him. But nobody wants to see it.”
According to Dutch, Hulk Hogan and Shane McMahon are just trying to get a big payday at WrestleMania.
“What they’re trying to do is they’re trying to angle their way into a spot on WrestleMania so they can get this big payoff. I don’t know what the payoff would be. It’d probably be a million dollars, million and a half maybe. That is worth advocating for a spot on the card, yes. But as far as fan interest, other than who hurts themselves first, who cares? I don’t even know what angle they could do to set it up.”
