Hulk Hogan Takes Credit For Legendary Storyline, Denies Popular Claim

Hulk Hogan

Hulk Hogan has denied a popular claim from his WCW days.

After wrestling his last match with the WWF in August 1993, Hulk Hogan sat out the remainder of his contract before jumping to WCW in 1994. Despite his new surroundings, Hogan continued to portray the same babyface character that he’d utilised in the WWF, but all that changed in July 1996.

Following the ‘invasion’ by Kevin Nash and Scott Hall, Hogan famously joined the trio at Bash at the Beach to from the nWo.

Ahead of the show, several stars were rumoured for Hogan’s spot, with Sting being one of the favourites.

During an appearance on the Impaulsive podcast with Logan Paul, Hogan reflected on that famous night, revealing it was his idea to be the ‘third man.’ Furthermore, Hogan denied he ever used creative control while with the company, something many have heavily disputed in the past.

“I called Eric (Bischoff) up, ‘Who is your third man?’ We’re going to go with Sting.’ ‘Bro, he’s not WWE.’ Scott and Kev are WWE. Sting has nothing to do (with WWE). I’m WWE from head to toe. I’m the third man. Eric goes, ‘Really, will you do it?’ ‘Yeah, I’ll do it.’

Eric didn’t even believe I would do it. I flew on a jet to Daytona and hid out in a hotel room. I told Eric, ‘Call me when the last match is in the ring before the main event.’ Eric didn’t even think I was coming from the hotel. He had Sting ready to go. They didn’t believe I would do it.

I had creative control. I never used it. Never used it the whole time. I didn’t use it this night either. When I walked out, Scott and Kevin almost sh*t. They had no idea I was coming out. It was kinda cool,”

Hulk Hogan Signs New WWE Deal

During the same interview, Hulk Hogan revealed that he had signed a new five-year contract with WWE. In the words of the man himself, the deal covers “licensing and merchandising stuff, and ambassador stuff.”

The WWE Hall of Famer went on to say that he’ll be there if the company needs him for WrestleMania.
