Hulk Hogan Couldn’t Feel His Hands Prior To Recent Surgery
Hulk Hogan was dealing with some serious health issues leading up to his recent surgery.
On May 14, Hulk Hogan underwent what was described as a “neck fusion procedure” in an effort to undo the damage of decades in the ring.
It was noted that the procedure was done to improve Hogan’s quality of life, with reports claiming he was back working just 24 hours later.
Speaking on his 83 Weeks podcast, Eric Bischoff, Hogan’s friend and business partner, gave an insight into the star’s recovery and just how severe his injury problems had become. Bischoff cast doubt on the claims that Hogan was “back to work” so quickly, before confirming that the surgery lasted several hours.
“I don’t know about [the] ‘back to work’ part, I mean, he’s taking phone calls. He flew in on Tuesday night, had surgery early Wednesday morning — it was a several hour surgery — they were working on … the discs in his neck, but they had to go in front through his neck to get to ’em.”
Bischoff added that he was surprised Hogan was even able to walk in the lead-up to the surgery, given the severity of his back problems. However, following the surgery, he’s now able to feel his hands for the “first time in a long time.”
“But from what I’ve heard, from one of the people that works closely to him on a daily basis, was that coming out of that surgery, for the first time in a long time, he could actually feel his hands. It’s amazing that he’s still walking, it shocks me that he’s still capable of walking. He’s kind of a fighter and he’s digging in.”
Eric Bischoff Remains Proud Of Hulk Hogan
In an earlier interview, Eric Bischoff explained why he’s still proud to be Hulk Hogan’s friend despite the string of controversies that continue to follow him.
The former WCW boss pointed to the work Hogan has done for charity and those less fortunate as a testament to his character, rather than his current public perception. Bischoff went on to say he’s seen Hogan go out of his way to help others on many occasions.
The very public defence came after Shelton Benjamin took aim at Hogan after the veteran repeatedly got his name wrong in an interview. Benjamin used the opportunity to blast Hogan for his non-apology for using racist language in 2018.
