Huge Update On Injured WWE Star Following Brock Lesnar’s Attack
An update was given for a WWE star who was taken out by Brock Lesnar during a vicious attack recently.
On the road to WWE Wrestlepalooza, Brock Lesnar appeared on SmackDown during the September 19th episode in Toledo. It was not a good night for announcer Michael Cole, who was nearly beaten up by Lesnar.
Thankfully for Cole, his commentary partner Corey Graves went into the ring to try to stop Brock Lesnar. That was a bad move for Graves because Lesnar attacked him and hit him with the F5 twice.
Graves is a former wrestler who retired over a decade ago due to concussion issues, but he was cleared a few years ago, so he can take bumps. Since the Lesnar attack, Graves has been away from WWE TV to sell the attack by Lesnar.
During the WWE SmackDown broadcast in Cincinnati, Michael Cole and Booker T were on commentary. When Cole was about to give an update on Graves, Booker T chimed in with this humorous comment:
“He’s finished, he’s finished. He’s done, he’s done.”
Cole appeared to be annoyed by that and provided some clarification on it.
“Corey Graves still convalescing at home after the attack by Brock Lesnar. He’s not finished, he’ll be back in a couple of weeks from what I understand.”
The reason for Corey Graves’ WWE absence is likely because his wife, former superstar Carmella, is pregnant with the couple’s second child. They had a son named Dimitri, who is nearly two years old, and Graves has three children from a previous marriage. The couple’s baby is due to be born this fall, so perhaps Graves is staying away from WWE for that reason.
Brock Lesnar’s Attack On Corey Graves Has Led To WWE SmackDown Commentary Changes
The SmackDown commentary table has undergone numerous changes over the last month and a half. Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett were the SmackDown team for most of the year, but they have moved over to Raw after working SmackDown together on August 22nd. That’s because Joe Tessitore has ESPN college football duties on Saturdays in the fall, so doing Raw on Mondays is easier for him.
Here’s how the SmackDown commentary team has looked since late August.
- August 22 in Dublin, Ireland – Joe Tessitore & Wade Barrett
- August 29 in Lyon, France – Michael Cole & Wade Barrett
- September 5 in Chicago – Michael Cole & Corey Graves
- September 12 in Norfolk – Vic Joseph & Booker T
- September 19 in Toledo – Michael Cole & Corey Graves (replaced by The Miz)
- September 26 in Orlando – Michael Cole & Booker T
- October 3 in Cincinnati – Michael Cole & Booker T
Cole mentioned that he’ll be joined by Wade Barrett on SmackDown on October 10th, as they will also be in Australia for the Crown Jewel pay-per-view event on October 11th, and Raw on October 13th.
When Graves returns, he will likely join the SmackDown commentary team alongside Cole, but changes could occur again in the new year.
As for Brock Lesnar, he will be a part of the 2026 Royal Rumble and WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas. However, it’s not known when he’ll return to WWE television following his dominant win over John Cena at Wrestlepalooza last month.
