How WWE Is Really Planning On Using AI
A new report has cleared up what’s really going on with WWE and its use of artificial intelligence in the company.
It was recently reported that WWE and Triple H are looking to integrate AI into their creative process. Furthermore, it has already taken steps in that direction.
As noted in the report, the company hired Cyrus Kowsari in September with the job title Senior Director of Creative Strategy. When he was introduced to staff by Triple H, The Game said that Kowsari would lead the company’s transition into “AI-based storytelling” while integrating AI into creative services such as graphics and video.
Kowsari is also believed to be a “liaison” to the White House as Triple H takes on “more duties in politics.” There’s no word on what these duties might be.
One ex-WWE star has explained why they’re concerned about the use of AI in a creative context, but it seems there might be more to it than just that.
AI Not Replacing WWE Creative Team
Fightful Select has now given another update, noting that AI tools have already been at the disposal of the creative team for years. Rather than coming up with ideas, however, the tools were used for things such as looking up information, such as “the last time two wrestlers had a match.” One source noted that it was more a case of “not starting with a blank page” approach rather than having AI write an entire show.
The report noted that nobody on the creative team knew of any others using the AI system for more than a couple of minutes.
In relation to Kowsari’s hiring, the creative team in WWE is under the impression that he is being brought in to find other ways AI can help the company, such as removing background noise in shots or organising files quickly. An employee in production was quoted as saying that they work “insane, nonstop” hours and were excited at the prospect of getting help from AI.
Most importantly, AI is not being used to replace the creative team. One talent in WWE noted that “Michael Hayes, Paul Heyman, and Ed Koskey are not AI” and took exception to the idea that AI storylines were going to play out on WWE TV.
