How WWE Raw Really Did On Netflix Debut
WWE Raw makes headlines.
The January 6th edition of Monday Night Raw was all about WWE making an impression. With the show debuting on Netflix, the sports entertainment giant was determined to appeal to fans both new and old as it kicked off its new era.
The show got started with a promo from Triple H before The Rock addressed the millions… and millions, of fans he hoped were watching the show. The Hollywood megastar later presented Roman Reigns with the Ula Fala after he defeated Solo Sikoa.
Elsewhere, John Cena began his retirement tour by pledging to win the Royal Rumble, and Rhea Ripley beat Liv Morgan to win the Women’s World Title. In the main event, CM Punk got the better of Seth Rollins, but it would be a surprise if their issues were genuinely over.
WWE Enjoys Strong Start To Life On Netflix
While exact viewing figures for the episode on Netflix are unavailable, it’s currently listed as the number one TV show in both the United States and the United Kingdom.
However, not all of the coverage of the show has been positive. The Pat McAfee Show shared a skit mocking Hulk Hogan and the negative reaction he received, while the boos were also picked up on by mainstream media.
On January 13th, WWE will be looking to continue the momentum gained in the Inuit Dome with several big matches already announced. On the show, Dakota Kai and Lyra Valkyria will meet in the finals of the Women’s Intercontinental Championship tournament, and Damian Priest will battle Finn Balor in a Street Fight.
Elsewhere, Chad Gable will square off against a mystery opponent believed to be former AEW star Penta.
