How WWE Plans To Counter Program AEW Forbidden Door PPV

WWE Hall Of Famer Believes Neither Side Won Tuesday Night Head-To-Head

Ever since AEW debuted in 2019, it has been WWE’s closest competitor.

Over time, the Tony Khan-run company managed to carve out its niche, but has remained a distant second when it comes to market domination.

The Stamford-based company, meanwhile, continues to monitor its Floridian counterpart, challenging it at every opportunity.

While AEW has not come anywhere close to dethroning WWE’s flagship shows, RAW and SmackDown, it has beaten NXT’s ratings a few times.

As a result, Triple H & Co. strategically host NXT PLEs to gain a ratings advantage; the same is about to be the case with NXT Heatwave.

According to WrestleVotes, NXT Heatwave is set to take place on August 24 at Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium in South Carolina.

The date coincides with AEW x NJPW’s Forbidden Door pay-per-view at the O2 Arena in London, England.

WWE has yet to make an official announcement about Heatwave 2025.

WWE’s NXT Great American Bash Clashes With AEW All In: Texas

NXT’s next major event, Great American Bash, is just around the corner and will take place on July 12, which is the same date as AEW’s All In: Texas.

WWE has announced a strong roster for the show, with Yoshiki Inamura challenging Oba Femi for the championship.

Meanwhile, AEW’s main event will feature John Moxley and Adam Page facing off in a Texas Death Match.

It is an extremely busy weekend for the Stamford company, as it hosts the all-women’s PLE Evolution on July 13. The event will see the women of the past and present come together to forge new memories.
