How The Rock Really Reacted To Vince Russo Joining WCW
The Rock had a surprising reaction to Vince Russo jumping ship to WCW.
As the then-WWF began to take the lead in the Monday Night War against WCW, the company lost two key creative forces when Vince Russo quit the company to join their competitor as the head of creative in late 1999.
Russo had been part of WWF during the rise of many of the company’s legendary stars, including The Rock. While it seemed possible The Great One would be unhappy with the defection, he actually understood why Russo did it.
Speaking during the third episode of VICE docuseries “Who Killed WCW?”, Rock explained that it wasn’t an unusual move in the world of pro wrestling, and Russo simply did what was best for him and his family.
“When Vince Russo made the jump to WCW to run that entire ship, I remember thinking, ‘Good for him. Great.’ This is the world of professional wrestling. This shit happens all the time.”
“He made the decision what’s best for him and his family, and he went after an opportunity to go down to WCW. You’re handed the entire book, write the story.”
The Rock Recalls WrestleMania 40 Moment That Made Him Happy
The Rock has opened up on a moment that made him “so f**king happy” at WrestleMania 40. At the event, Rock teamed with Roman Reigns to take on Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins. According to The People’s Champ, there was a move that required “insane” timing to pull off properly during the bout, and when it happened he had to stop himself from smiling.
